Honoring Dr. Robert Ferris
Dr. Robert Ferris is now enjoying retirement after an outstanding orthodontic career. Since 1990, Dr. Ferris devoted himself to providing exceptional care rooted in the latest advancements in orthodontics.
Throughout his decades of service, he remained deeply passionate about helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles—and found genuine joy in witnessing the transformative impact those smiles had on individuals and their families.
A Strong Educational Foundation
Dr. Ferris began his academic journey at Stony Brook University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of South Carolina in 1987, followed by a general practice residency at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. In 1990, he completed his orthodontic specialty training at Columbia University.
Dedicated to lifelong learning, Dr. Ferris continuously pursued continuing education throughout his career. He remained on the cutting edge of orthodontic advancements and was an active member of several professional organizations, including:
- American Association of Orthodontists
- American Dental Association
- Northeastern Society of Orthodontists
- Dental Society of the State of New York
- Nassau County Dental Society
These affiliations helped him stay closely connected to the broader orthodontic community and always be informed about the latest research, tools, and techniques in the field.
A Life Beyond the Practice
Originally from North Bellmore, New York, Dr. Ferris made Port Washington his home in 1997. Outside of his professional life, he embraces a vibrant, well-rounded lifestyle. He enjoys exercising, skiing, golfing, cooking, and is even a licensed, instrument-rated private pilot.
Above all, he finds joy in his family—his wife, son, and two daughters—and in the continual pursuit of growth, health, and meaningful connection.
Now retired from active practice, Dr. Robert Ferris has a remarkable legacy of clinical excellence, compassionate care, and decades of smiles that continue to brighten the world. His impact on the community, both professionally and personally, will be felt for many years to come.
